Joe Douglas is the Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Angelina Logistic LLC in Lufkin, and a Texas Realtor. Retired from the ITEX Group Property Management, Inc. as Regional Manager in East Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a graduate and a life member of Leadership Lukin Class of 2002. He earned his Associate of Science in Business Degree from Angelina College and Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Stephen F. Austin State University, a member of the University of Texas System. He is a member and Trustee of Long Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church, served as Chairman of General Solicitation for the Angelina County United Way. President of the Angelina County Citizens Chamber of Commerce, President of Lufkin Independent School District, President of the Affordable Housing Management Association of East Texas, Inc., and elected National Delegate to Texas Senate District 3 representing 17 East Texas Counties. He has served on the advisory boards of Deep East Texas Council of Government Family Self Sufficiency, Angelina College Child and Family Development, Angelina County Vision 2020, the Lufkin State Supported Living Center Advocacy Program, and various other boards. Joe is married to Yevette Douglas, who is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. Joe and Yevette have two children, Matthew a graduate of Lufkin High School and Texas A&M University and Elizabeth a graduate of Angelina College, Pineywoods Community Academy Early College High School, and a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Texas State University.
Dr. Naranjo is a native of Lufkin. He graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Psychology. He went on to get his doctorate in Psychology from the University of Southern California and became a Fellow of the Harvard Medical School during his postdoctoral studies. He is a member of the American Board of Psychotherapists and had a private practice in Lufkin for 17 years. He currently serves as Administrator and CEO of A Pineywoods Home Services, Inc. and A Pineywoods Hospice. He is active in the community and has participated in Leadership Lufkin, Angelina County Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club in addition to serving on the Board of Lufkin's first Public Charter School.
Charlie Grumbles is a long time resident of Lufkin having server his community as a fire fighter and Fire Inspector for the last 15 years just prior to his retirement in 2005. he spent his initial working years as a Texas Army National Guardsman while working at various jobs with Temple Industries, Parkwood Homes, SENCO Sales and Service, Conner's Western Auto and Furniture and his own roofing company, Charlie E. Grumbles Roofing. He has extensive training and education in Life Safety courses. He is active in the community not only as a Pineywoods Academy board member but also as a member of the boards of Lufkin's Main Street and American Red Cross. When he is not working, he is retired enjoying his grandchildren with his wife Ruth.
Louise LaVane
Louise LaVane is a native of Lufkin and a Registered Nurse, receiving her Master of Science in Nursing Education, Management and Leadership from The University of Texas at Tyler and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has served as an Instructor with the School of Nursing at Angelina College since 2001 and is the CEO of LaVane Consultant Services. Prior to becoming a Nursing Educator she served as a Nurse Manager and Resource/Case Manager with Woodland Heights Medical Center and Emergency Department Director with Memorial Hospital. She is a past President of Top Ladies of Distinction, Lufkin Chapter and National Top Teens Director as well as past President and Dean of Membership for the Gamma Chi Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority and currently serves as Financial Secretary and Physical and Mental Health Committee Chairperson for the Lufkin area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
After majoring in Biology in 1983, she went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 1987. She finished her Internal Medicine training at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York in 1995. She served in the NY area until she moved to Lufkin in 2001 where she presently has a busy primary care practice. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, member of the American College of Physicians, member of the Angelina County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association. She and her husband, Dr. Samuel Santiago are the proud parents of 2 children who both attend Pineywoods Community Academy. She leads a productive life fulfilling the demands of family and a health care provider. She wishes to bring this productivity to PCA as a board member by upholding the mission of the school to provide quality education.
Justin Hatton is a native of East Texas and a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Systems Engineering Technologies. He served in the US Navy as a Submarine Officer for several years before returning to East Texas to begin his engineering career with Lufkin Industries / General Electric and to obtain his Masters in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. He currently works as an Engineering Manager with Lockheed Martin. Justin’s family, including his wife and three children, have been active members of the PCA community since 2016, their church since 2013, and various other community organizations.
Sarah Strinden is one of the original founders of Pineywoods Community Academy. She is currently retired after working 32 years as the office manager of her husband’s surgical practice, Lufkin Plastic Surgery. She graduated from U.S.C with a Ph.D. in biochemistry in 1981 and did a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in Madison for 1 year. She was a stay-at-home mom with four children until they moved to Lufkin in 1988 where she helped her husband establish his practice. She actively participated in her children’s schools parent teacher organizations as well as district committees. She currently resides in Shawnee Kansas, and spends winters in Lufkin. She is active in both communities through her churches, First Presbyterian and New Hope PCA. She recently began a new career as a self-publishing novelist under the pen name Jane Doe. Her first work, The Surgeon, was published in 2023 and the second book, Inside Religion, will be published in 2024.
